The Rev. Richard Morgan

Father Richard Morgan is serving St James' Downingtown. Richard grew up in Cambridge, UK and studied theology at Cambridge University. Before ordination, he worked as an intern leading youth and children’s ministry and music ministry and then served as a project worker for a centre for homeless people in London’s Trafalgar Square. After seminary at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, he served an Urban Priority Area parish in the West of England and then went to be Chaplain and Music Director at a retreat centre. He served as Rector of two smaller parishes in the Essex countryside and as Associate at a larger Anglican parish in Salisbury before coming to the USA and serving 11 years at Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli.

Richard and his wife Ruth have four children, three grown and the youngest just about to finish middle school. Richard serves as an honorary canon of Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral and as the chair of Philadelphia Theological Institute. Until last year he served as Dean of the Brandywine Deanery.
