The performance is part of the College Choir 90th Anniversary Celebration Tour, which includes concerts in Philadelphia PA, Morristown NJ, West Roxbury MA, Ridgefield CT, Washington DC, Lancaster PA, and Gettysburg, PA. The concert will include a cappella sacred and secular music by composers such as Colin Britt, Eric Barnum, Stephen Chatman, F. Melius Christiansen, Gerald Finzi, Jake Runestad, and many more. The performance will also feature the Camerata, a smaller group of singers from within the College Choir.
The Gettysburg College Choir was founded in 1935 and has been a signature choral ensemble of Gettysburg College for generations. The choir includes 29 dedicated singers who are music majors, minors, and students from other programs of study. Since 1998 the choir has been directed by Dr. Robert Natter and has continued a long tradition of touring in the eastern U.S. and internationally. Recent excursions have included tours to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Canada. They have also performed by invitation for state conferences of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). The choir is also featured on the world-premiere recording of Letters from Gettysburg, by Avner Dorman, released on the Canary Classics label.
The College Choir is one of four choral ensembles of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. The Conservatory offers three degrees: a Bachelor of Music in Performance, a Bachelor of Music Education (for aspiring music teachers), and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Honoring our role as a dynamic conservatory within one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges, we foster rigorous study, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and joy in music.
The College Choir tour is sponsored by the Parker B. and Helen D. Wagnild College Choir Tour Fund
